In the Artist’s Words:

Our reactions are often shaped by the traumas we’ve endured, and those reactions can point us towards our burning heart. This piece speaks about the fiery raging tunes that the trauma survivors often finds themselves playing. I often hear these tunes played by my close ones and helps me gaze at my own inner workings and if I am playing the same tune for others.

At times we are the ones, fueling the flames of turmoil caused by our trauma without knowing how it will impact the people connected to us. We play the raging tunes for the ones who are still healing, nurturing and watering their hearts. Healing is not easy, especially when our hearts are scarred by past trauma but can we begin to soothe the fire by cultivating more self awareness?

Biography:

Samriddha Roy is an Illustrator/Visual Artist based in India, creating narratives both digitally and on paper.

During her time in design college, she found herself leaning towards visual problem-solving and that has dictated her illustration practice since then, mainly through editorials.
Her experience spans projects with startups, organizations and publications dedicated to making a difference in women’s health sector, mental health, education, art, culture, wildlife, ecology and climate change and finance.

She has a bottomless appetite for untangling poetic and social chaos in her mindscape by making imagery that reflects whimsical storytelling and mundane truths. Along the way she also eats proper food to finally settle her hunger.

She is deeply fascinated by the natural world, including the colors, tiny microbes and colored cats found in it. At present, she finds herself diving into cat reels while simultaneously amplifying the voice/voices of the Earth, as global temperatures have now surpassed 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.
