About the Art:

My inspiration for this piece came from pastel figure drawings and cultural mythology. The water-bearer is a cross-cultural icon that carries much power in astrology and folklore, and I wanted to show this mythological figure dealing with modern problems like water rights and indigenous identity. This piece felt personal because water connects all humanity and we should respect it. Pastel figure drawings are some of my favorite expressions of my artist flow state, and I enjoyed using pastels as the medium to create a colorful striking figure that conveys the power of nature. (edited)
