The girl’s parents bring her to the local Garden after midnight, while invasive protesters and predatory news crews sleep in their encampments. This is common. Suburban surveillance feeds observe the family as lucidly at nighttime as in the day, but the cover of blackened sky offers the illusion of incognito. The fleeting silence and sleeping houses conceal their decision. The girl shouldn’t be paraded. Poor wilted thing with her PTSD and her pretty drooping head.

Naturally, it would’ve been ideal if her parents had made this decision before the episode at her high school. Thirteen this time. But even in the glaring spotlight of the statistics and the overwhelming approval of lawmakers, the public has been slow to accept the Gardens as a viable solution. Some even brand the program as unnatural, extreme, evil.

Fools.

It’s all in the brochure. Living boldly out there, growing safely in here.
